Hey there Friend,

Do you want to expand yourself as a musician? I would argue that this is something everyone should strive for, not just musicians, but because music is the focus of this website, that's enough for me!

Any time you have the opportunity to learn something new about your guitar or a style of music, you should take it upon yourself to grab it. Here is such an opportunity.

The University of Rochester (in New York State), offers a couple courses called History of Rock, Parts One and Two. These are being offered through Coursera, the free online portal to college level classes. All you need is an internet connection and the desire to learn.

History of Rock, Part One is kicking off next week - Monday, 13 May to be exact. I would suggest to all you rockers that you head over and sign up.

I'm pretty pumped about this course because the more I know about the successes and failures of past rockers, the less likely I am to repeat the failures. Want to learn the best way to succeed in business? The study both the successes and the failures.

Sometimes knowing what to do is not nearly as helpful as knowing what NOT to do!

The instructor John Covach is a badass academician (he's a Ph.d.) and a rocker, so he can speak as an authority on the subject of Rock music. I think it's going to be a pretty kick-ass course, so check it out if you've got the time.

Peace~

Dave

Dave "Eddie" Vance is a rock guitar enthusiast and gear nut. He has been playing guitar for over 30 years and enjoys tormenting the neighbors every chance he gets. When he's not slaving for the man, you can find him rocking out with his B.C. Rich Bich guitar, a cold beer and some sweet tunes.

He also runs Learn-To-Play-Rock-Guitar.com, but you knew that already!
