Subject: Happy 4th of July 2019 🇺🇸

Hey Friend,

It’s Independence Day here in the States.

It got me thinking about the old “red, white, and blue” and famous guitars that have celebrated the American flag.

The first one I remember was on that old TV show Hee Haw.

Buck Owens, one of the co-hosts of the show, played this beauty:

The Harmony “Buck Owens American"
Fun fact: These were manufactured by Harmony Guitars, but distributed by Sears and Roebuck. They sold for $99 back in the Sixties. Now the vintage ones can fetch $3000 or more.

While he played this on the show most of the time, Fender Telecasters were his primary guitar when recording and playing with his band, The Buckaroos.

Vintage Guitar magazine did a great article about Buck you can read here.

It’s amazing how much he influenced much of the Country music you hear today...

Growing up seeing him on Hee Haw (and not having much interest in that style of music), you get blind to the contributions of musicians.

Hee Haw was a variety comedy show, so you didn’t get to see the full effect of their range and capabilities a lot of the time.

But this article give a good synopsis of Buck’s career outside the show that made him famous. Of course, having 21 #1 Country hits also helps!

Hope you have a great day!

Peace~

Dave
