Hey Friend,
Ah, the best laid plans... I fully intended on having an introduction to G# Diminished (G#°) today, but the Fates are not allowing it. Technical issues are a pox upon me...
I'm integrating this new audio interface into the computer system, and the sound drivers (the software that allows programs to communicate with computer hardware) are not playing nicely. As a result, none of the sound producing applications are giving me sound.
Makes it a little difficult to provide you with an exercise if I can't hear how it's going to sound when you play it!
What I can do is give you the link to the PDF while I work out the bugs in my system. As soon as I can get the MP3s to you, I'll provide the links.
G#° finds its roots in the G# major scale. The notes from this scale are:
G# A# B# C# D# E# F## G#
(Are you scared yet?)
Diminished chords are constructed using the 1 3b 5b notes, so if you look back at that scale, the notes for G#° are G# B D.
This also lines up with the scale notes we have in the A major key:
A B C# D E F# G# (A) B C# D E
See the notes in bold? The same notes we need for G#°.
I'm out of time for now, but hopefully tonight I can get the technical challenges cleared up and finish up this first lesson.
Rock on!
Peace~
