Hey Friend,
The root 6 version is barred at the second fret across all six strings with your index finger. Add an E minor shape to the barre with your ring and pinky fingers on the fourth fret, fifth and fourth strings, respectively. The notes (by string, starting with the sixth) are F#, C#, F#, A, C# and F#.
The root 5 chord can be found at the ninth fret. Barre the fifths through first strings with your index finger across the ninth fret. Then add an A minor chord over the top. Your middle finger will be on the second string at the tenth fret. Your ring and middle fingers are on the fourth and third strings at the eleventh fret. The notes line up like this: F#, C#, F#, A, C#.
See, nothing crazy or strange. In fact, the minor version of a root 5 barre chord is just like the root six major shape - you don't have to barre three strings with your ring finger, which always takes a while to get a handle on. Just find the proper position and move all your fingers up one string each.
Only three more days of Christmas shopping left, so if running low on ideas for that someone special, don't look at me! My wife refuses to give ideas - she doesn't "want" anything. Jewelry? No - the last time I did that she ended up using it to pay off some debt to her parents. Her "hobby" is yard work, so maybe Home Depot will have something interesting.
And no, I'm not just getting around to shopping for her. I've already gotten the few things she's mentioned in passing. I'm just looking for some last minute ideas...
See you tomorrow.
Peace~
Dave
