Hey Friend,
We’re moving along quite nicely in the key of B minor. We looked at E minor as the IVm chord last time, and now we’re up to F# minor, the Vm chord.
Im IIdim III IVm Vm VI VII
Bm C#dim D Em F#m G A
The notes needed for an F#m chord are found in the F# minor scale. We’ll use the F#, A and C# notes for the respective 1 3 5 notes.
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 (8)
F# G# A B C# D E (F#)
And yes, like the other chords in the key of B minor, the notes for F#m also occur in this key:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 (8)
B C# D E F# G A (B)
Are you starting to get the hang of it? These patterns play out over and over again. You just have to see them enough times for your brain to automatically recognize them. Think of this like good brainwashing...
The exercises are familiar, but practice them anyway. Your fingers need to be trained, and the only way that’s going to happen is if you do the work.
Peace~
Dave
