Subject: F# Minor as the IVm Chord

Hey Friend,

After E major comes F# minor chord in the key of C# minor. It is the fourth chord in the C# minor progression.

Im       IIdim    III  IVm   Vm   VI  VII
C#m  D#dim   E  F#m  G#m  A   B

You simply need to move the root note up two frets from E to F# and make the chord minor. Easy peasy!

F#m is derived from the F# minor scale. Following the minor scale pattern (W H W W H W W) and starting on F#, here you go:

1     2  3   4  5   6  7  (8)
F# G# A  B C# D  E (F#m)
  W   H  W W  H W  W

There’s nothing new about the chord shapes and fingerings. You’ve seen each before, so it’s just a matter of applying them in the new positions on the neck. Here are the exercises:

Y’all have a good one. Rock it out!

Peace~
