Hey Friend,
The next triad we find as we study the key of B minor is the E minor chord. It is the fourth chord in the harmonic progression.
Im IIdim III IVm Vm VI VII
Bm C#dim D Em F#m G A
We get the notes for E minor from its root scale by taking the 1 3 5 notes (E, G and B) and combining them:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 (8)
E F# G A B C D (E)
These notes line up within the B minor scale as well, so the chord fits naturally to the key:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 (8)
B C# D E F# G A (B)
The exercises are ready to go for you, in case you didn’t have a chance to download them on the last pass with E minor. Remember, that triad was the root chord for the key of E minor - the last key we looked at.
The open E minor chord is very simple to play, only needing two fingers in the open position. Here are the exercises:
This is a nice, easy chord to play and shouldn’t be any trouble to you. It’s Friday (!), so I’m a little giddy that I’m getting my weekend pass, but the “honey do” list is already full, so it’ll be a busy weekend. Hopefully you have something fun planned (in addition to playing your guitar).
Peace~
Dave
