Hey Friend,
The last triad in the F# minor key lineup is E major.
I IIdim III IVm Vm VI VII
F#m G#dim A Bm C#m D E
There are no surprises here - the notes that make up E major are part of the F# minor scale, so the chord fits naturally into any F# minor harmonic progression.
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 (8)
F# G# A B C# D E (F#)
Because the root note (tonic) of E major is E, we start with the E major scale to show us the note possibilities:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 (8)
E F# G# A B C# D# (E)
Create the chord by combining the 1 3 5 notes, and there you have it: E, G# and B.
I’ll bet by now you guys can do these chord formulas in your sleep! Like I repeat, over and over again ad nauseum, once you know the pattern, you have the key to unlocking the secrets of music.
Granted, once you open that door, you’ll find there are more layers to uncover as you start climbing that "stairway to heaven” (sorry, couldn't resist).
Okay, here are the exercise files for E major:
It’s Quasimodo’s favorite day (Hump Day - LOL!), so I hope it goes quickly for you. Have a great one!
Peace~
Dave
