Thanks for the birthday wishes for my wife - the day did get better!

Our neighbor is kind enough to let us connect a hose between the houses, so we're piggy-backing off their water pump. We had water back in the pipes by noon yesterday. If all goes well (ha ha, no pun intended), the new well pump should be installed Monday.

Of course all that fun set me back on every other project I'm juggling, so there will be little rest this weekend for ol' Davey.

This does go to show the benefits of workarounds and jury-rigging (or "MacGyvering" as we call it around here). You remember MacGyver, don't you? TV show from the 80s? Secret agent that used his Swiss Army knife, duct tape, baling twine and paper clip to fix anything and save the day?

Yeah, living in a renovation house is kinda like that. You're always looking for a work-around because many of the original parts in the house are old with no suitable replacements on the market today.

Maybe that's why I like power chords so much. Having trouble with playing barre chords? Just use power chords.
