Hey Friend,
I'm back in the crib! Yesterday was a long day for sure, but aren't they all? I get to do it all over again on Monday. While I'm home I'll be trying to catch up on everything that has fallen behind over the past week, including giving my guitar some love.
My wife has a mission list for me - everything that needs to be accomplished today or tomorrow. I had completely forgotten the coming week is Family Week 2.0 - her mom and sisters (and nieces) are all flying in today to spend the week enjoying Orlando. I guess it's going to be a fast and furious weekend!
I have to imagine this is what being a touring musician is like. You travel between cities doing shows for weeks or months at a time, and when you return home, there are all the normal things that need to be addressed.
I wonder if that's part of the reason why musicians find touring the most difficult part of their job. Traveling has a lot of unknowns. Even well planned travel has hiccups when you get into it. There's an element of chaos, and only certain types of individuals do well in chaotic situations - it's definitely not the norm for most of us.
After weeks of touring, that chaotic aspect becomes "normal," so when you return home from a tour and are expected to step into "normal" life without missing a beat. Just my one week away so far gives me a view into what that must be like - kind of like being a schizophrenic!
I don't know about you, but it's easy to lose sight of the fact that everyone else "in" your life has "a life" outside of the interactions they have with you. While we are involved in our daily tasks and interactions, your family members are also doing their own thing. Parts of these lives will cross over at times, and some parts may never intersect. It's like for every person we come in contact with, there are two separate existences.
Double lives for every relationships - there's a rabbit hole to get lost in if I've every seen one!
Whoa, I think I was stepping off into the deep end there for a minute. Reeling it back in....
Anyway, I'm glad to be home, have already dealt with some mini-crises surrounding laundry, so things are back to normal - well, they never changed for my family. I just wasn't here and part of it.
And now I'm off to tackle my missions (and yes, I have had my guitar in my hands today). Have a great Saturday,
Peace~
