Subject: D Major Sunday Fun

Hey Friend,

Good morning. Happy Standard Time. I'm here in the Eastern US, so it's nice to have that feeling of an extra hour, even though it's really just smoke and mirrors.

Rather than move on to another chord review (E minor is up next), I thought I'd put together a fun little exercise utilizing some chords from the D Major harmonic progression. I also incorporated various positions rather than keeping everything down in open position land.

What you'll notice right off is the use of the D shape for the I V IV (D A G) section. Keeps it simple, but has a really cool sound. I also embellished a couple chords to make them fit a little better.

Feel free to play with the strum pattern to find something that works for you. Currently everything is a down strum, but if you want to alternate with a down/up pattern, have at it.

It's just an example of giving yourself some creative flexibility and letting the sound determine the direction. You don't have to stay locked in with the same old chords and shapes. Hope you like it.

Peace~

Dave
