Hey Friend,
Happy Friday! Today you're going to get all sorts of options to play the B minor chord. I know you're looking forward to this, so let's get started!
There are eleven basic triads available to us for B minor. These all have the notes lined up on consecutive strings, so you don't need to worry about muting a string in between two chord notes. As I was putting together the chord charts, I found many of the B minor fingerings require muting strings in order to play the chord. The charts
I definitely wanted to keep these simple, since B minor has such a dread factor associated with it.
Remember how I said I was always intimidated by the thought of playing a B minor barre chord? Fortunately for us, the first chord chart shown is a much easier way to play B minor as an open position chord. It saves you from having to barre the second fret, and still gives all the tonal elements you need for B minor.
I have a few questions for you...
As you listen to the MP3 demonstration of the chords, a couple things occurred to me. One, is the tempo too fast in the demonstration? I realize the chord charts have you bouncing around the guitar neck quite a bit. Would it help you more if I slowed the tempo, or do you use the MP3 simply as a reference or guide to the sound?
Two, is one instance of each chord enough, or would you prefer to have an entire system of four measure for each chord so you can practice along?
It would certainly help to know how you're working through this stuff so I can make it more usable to you. That way I know better how to proceed going forward, and I can go back and fix what we've covered so far.
If you have a chance, shoot me an email and let me know if this is effective for you or if I need to do some tweaking to make it better. Thanks!
Peace~
Dave
