Subject: Another Nail In The Coffin...

Hey Friend,

Have you ever worked your tail off at something for hours - or days - only to have it crash and burn? And has it been for someone who doesn't really understand what it is you're doing - they only see it as an inconvenience to themselves?

Well I'm in the middle of that scenario. I've been rebuilding a computer for two days now. It has crashed on me twice, destroying all the work I had done prior. The user is the accountant for a client at my job. She has no idea what I've had to do to get the system rebuilt.

In all fairness, she's been pretty cool up to the second crash. And I understand her distress. But it's not as if I purposely caused the crashes. I'm as distressed as she is - and infuriated with the state of Windows operating systems.

Don't worry, I'm not going to get up on my soapbox - nobody really cares what I have to say about it.

It just goes to show that even when something seems straightforward at the start, it doesn't take much for it to go horribly wrong. We put a lot of reliance on technology and expect that it should just work. That's because it usually does, for the most part.

That also means it doesn't take much to upset that stability. One tiny little change can completely take the system down. That's why it's good to have some analog stuff in your life - like guitar!

Sorry for venting a little - at least it gave me the opportunity to listen to some Pink Floyd (The Wall) and channel my inner pop punk princess with some Avril Lavigne (The Best Damn Thing) while I wrote.

There's actually two songs off that album that fit into the current lessons - "Girlfriend" and "The Best Damn Thing". Both are in the key of D major and make heavy use of the I, IV, V and VIm chords (D, G, A and Bm). If you're all good little boys and girls, I might tab some out for your playing pleasure (I can hear some you you groaning already).

Come to think of it "Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd is in the key of G major. That intro is always fun to play.

So it's off to the client early today to try and finish up this mess... I mean machine - before I get strung up! Hope y'all have a good day.

Peace~
