Hey Friend,
I'll tell you, navigating through the minefield that is our federal tax code is pretty frustrating. Trying to figure out what kind of education tax credits we qualify for is almost as bad as trying to get college financial aid!
I don't know if the government wanted to make it as complex as possible to scare people away from claiming things, but it sure wouldn't surprise me if that were the case.
Even with tax software to guide you and the "help" and instructions, it's confusing.
I'm glad guitar isn't anywhere near as convoluted as tax code!
Maybe some of you would argue about that, but not for long - yes, theory takes a bit of time to get your head around, but at least once you get it, it makes sense. Some of this tax stuff is just whack. Who comes up with this crap (rhetorical, I know it's politicians/lawyers)!
Let's get simple...
Here's an exercise with some simplicity. Four basic chords in the key of A minor, but we're not going to start the riff with the root chord from the key. This time with go with D minor (IVm).
The progression goes like this:
IVm VII III Im Dm G C Am
The strum pattern is an easy, four down-strums at 60BPM, so like yesterday, the practice isn't in the rhythm but in the finger movements and getting comfortable with changing chords.
Now don't get me wrong - you CAN still practice rhythm and timing with this exercise (and all the others). The trick is to make sure you strum on the beat each time. This trains you to maintain the tempo and keep perfect timing.
Play through this one today...
Tomorrow is a bit up in the air for me, as I need to get a kid to a doctor's appointment at 0700 hours. I'll see what I can get put together for y'all tonight. Have a great Friday's Eve!
Peace~
