Hey Friend,
Ugh…
It’s getting harder every day to see the news that yet another entertainer has died.
I have to say that watching the show fueled a lot of my young dreams of being on stage, and I can’t help but sing along whenever I hear a Partridge tune.
It’s easy to dismiss them as “bubblegum pop” from the early 1970’s, but they had something the public wanted and they sold millions of records. They even topped The Beatles “Let It Be” with their hit “ I Think I Love You”.
For a made-up band on a TV sitcom, they had quite a bit of success musically and made eight Partridge Family albums, scoring numerous hit songs.
It’s important to point out that, even though the family band was made up, David Cassidy really did the lead singing on the recordings.
As for the show, there were countless guest stars that appeared in the episodes, including Johnny Cash, Richard Pryor, Farrah Fawcett and Dick Clark. There were many actors that can count this show as part of their training ground before they became stars themselves.
Like them or not, David Cassidy and The Partridge Family hold a place in entertainment history, and hearing that yet another has joined the great Rock & Roll show in Heaven just adds to the numb...
Peace~
Dave
P.S. We will get back to melody soon. I promise...
