Subject: A Minor As The IVm Chord

Hey Friend,

Look at me… I finally got my “stuff” together! Let’s get back to the chords, shall we?

In the key of E minor, the A minor chord is the IVm in the harmonic scale. So you’ll find the A note in the fourth scale position;

E  F#  G  A  B  C  D  (E)

Counting from the A note, you use the C and E notes in addition to the A for the chord - A, C and E makes the Am chord.

And yes, we saw earlier (when we looked at the key of A minor) that the A minor chord is derived from the A minor scale:

A B C D E F G (A)

Go ahead and review these exercises and play through them. Practice makes perfect, right (well, maybe, but that’s another discussion).

Here are the various positions up the neck where you can play A minor.

And the barre chords:

Enjoy and have a great day!

Peace~
