Yup, A major takes the III position in the F# minor harmonic scale.
I II° III IVm Vm VI VII
F#m G#° A Bm C#m D E
A major is built out by combining the 1 3 5 notes from the A major scale. Those notes would be the A, C# and E pitches:

A B C# D E F# G# (A)
As you would expect by now, these three notes also work in the F#m key, and that’s why the A major chord is part to this harmonic scale. Of course, the other reason is the key of A major is the relative major to F# minor - the same notes, just a different starting point.
