Hey there Friend,

I recently heard from AH, who was interested in how she could stay motivated and inspired.

Every musician runs into a creative roadblock from time to time. Rather than allowing yourself to fall into depressions because your well is dry, it's time to take some action to change your mental patterns.

There are many things you can do to jump-start your motivation and inspiration, and in today's article I've outlined eight ways to get yourself out of the rut.

To give you the quick down and dirty, here's the Cliff's Notes version:
  • listen to a new style of music
  • pick a favorite song and copy the beat; come up with a different chord progression or melody
  • change the fingering of a chord
  • play an arpeggio
  • using a different tuning
  • pick random notes and jumble them - make it a game
  • try out a different instrument
  • if all else fails, take a break
This ended up being a pretty long article, so I thought it would be a lot easier to read as a web page versus an email. To read the entire article, head over here...

As always, thank you so much for continuing to support Learn To Play Rock Guitar!

Peace~

Dave "Eddie" Vance is a rock guitar enthusiast and gear nut. He has been playing guitar for over 30 years and enjoys tormenting the neighbors every chance he gets. When he's not slaving for the man, you can find him rocking out with his B.C. Rich Bich guitar, a cold beer and some sweet tunes.

He also runs Learn-To-Play-Rock-Guitar.com, but you knew that already!
