Subject: "The Last Days of Capitalism" Coming Out Soon!

LDC Poster
Hey Last Days-ers,

It's finally here! The big news, the news we've all been waiting for...our movie is finally getting released! The Last Days of Capitalism will be coming to Video on Demand beginning November 12th. I'll have more details soon, and I'll email them to you and post them on social media when I get them, but for now, get your Roku's, Apple TV's, Fire Sticks or whatever ready.

It feels like we've been in a cocoon for the last year, waiting for this moment. Our little caterpillar went to all these festivals last year (virtually), then went into a cocoon, waiting until this moment to come springing out like a butterfly--a sexy, neon-lit butterfly, no doubt--to meet the world head on. Now the hard part comes--letting the world know we exist.

If you know anything about the indie film business you know that it's very hard for little indie films, even the really good ones, to break out. There are so many films crowding the marketplace right now, and none of the indie distributors spend a dime on marketing, so it's up to us--you all included--to help spread the word about the film. We've got some tricks up our sleeve, but unlike The Man in Last Days, we don't have stacks of cash to spend on marketing and promotion. This is where you come in. Here's how you can help us...
  • Watch the movie when it opens. This is probably the most important thing you can do. It should be opening first on Amazon, and if you watch it, that helps the Amazon algorithms spread the word about the film to other people who might like it.
  • Rate it after you see it. This is incredibly important. If you watch it on Amazon, and then rate it (highly), and review it (positively), that really makes a huge difference. To rate it on Amazon, just click the WRITE REVIEW icon.
  • Share it after your rate it. There's a little SHARE icon next to the WRITE REVIEW icon. When you click that button and share the film, that makes the algorithm go crazy. Amazon just loves it when you click that button!
  • Rate it on IMDB. When you find the film on Amazon, you'll see the Amazon star rating for the film, and next to that you'll see the IMDB rating for the film (Amazon owns IMDB). So that score is also really important for us. Fortunately, we already have a very high IMDB rating, but once our little butterfly leaves the cocoon, that score will go down, as people like to kill little butterflies. Having everyone on this email list rate the film on IMDB will give our little butterfly the armor it needs to stave off the attacks! Rating the film takes like 2 seconds--here's the link to our IMDB page: Last Days IMDB
  • Rate us on Rotten Tomatoes. Oh, did I mention that we were 100% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes?!? The critics love the film! And you will, too. Our Rotten Tomatoes page just came online, so be the first to rate it so we can get our Audience Score to match our Tomatometer (Critic) score. Visit our page here: Last Days Rotten Tomatoes
  • Join us on Social Media and help us share posts. We're going to be posting about the film in the coming weeks and we need all the help we can get amplifying those posts. You can follow us on Instagram and Facebook (see links below).
  • Spread the word. However you like to do it, please let your people know about the film. I like to say, "we can't afford to advertise using television. We advertise using tell-a-friend and tell-a-neighbor." (Ok, I don't really like to say that because it makes me sound corny and older than I already am, but I think you get the idea).
If you can do some or all of these things, it will make all the difference.
So, if you haven't seen the film yet, and you need a little bit more motivation before you decide to watch it, here's what some of the critics have said about it so far...

“Sleek, sexy and surprising…not to miss.”
- San Jose Mercury News

The Last Days of Capitalism is accomplished, intelligent and cunning.”
- Journal & Courier

"Four Stars. Mervis is a talent and his work is intimate and intelligent. It looks beautiful, thanks to the work of cinematographer Bethany Michalski, editor David Au, and composer Alexander Burke.”
- New York Amsterdam News

"A drama with a lot to say. Mervis’s direction is skilled and creative. Harper is so consistently good.”
- Midwest Film Journal

“This absolutely worked. The writing is solid and the delivery of the dialogue is equally good.”
- GhMovieFreak

“Fascinating. Engrossing performances and engaging writing. Mervis’ drama captivates…The Last Days of Capitalism is a simple yet rewarding drama featuring a jaw-dropping finale with timely social commentary.”
- Video Librarian

“The film delivers. Viewers may debate who profits from whom and whether capitalism is the victim but that ambiguity is one of the film’s strengths.”
- Loren King

"Adam Mervis’ smart subversion of the ‘whiny rich’ man. Huge props to Sarah Rose Harper and Mike Faiola who keep things engaging here...works as a breezy romance where we get to see more complex ends of these two people.”
- High on Films

How's that for motivation! Makes me want to see it again right now!

Ok, stay tuned for more information coming your way. Thanks so much for joining us on this journey, which is really just beginning. We're thrilled to have you along for the ride!!

Best,
Mark
