Jesus exceeded social expectations. And that was the
problem. No longer a mere carpenter, he dared to stand
out as the traveling teacher and healer. His critics
could not explain his power so they charged him with
sorcery. But did that make any sense? Why would evil
allow good to result? And because of his popularity, he
was an embarrassment to his family. However, who was his
family?
Jesus scandalized people through his charismatic
personality, his popularity and his power. He rose above
the expectations of other, even his own family. Could
this be God at work?
