| | The 14th Annual Gardiner Memorial Basketball Classic Tournament

On August 17th and 18th, the Bronx community will be hosting the 14th Annual Gardiner Memorial Basketball Classic Tournament, the most action-filled street basketball on the East Coast. The Gardiner family turned tragedy into hope and triumph through the game of basketball after losing six family members in a crash on the Bronx River Parkway in 2006. The Gardiners established The Gardiner Foundation to turn the goal into reality.
The Gardiner Foundation, a nonprofit organization, builds upon the Gardiner’s family legacy of helping others in need and involvement in the game of basketball by providing educational scholarships, financial and emotional support, and burial assistance to other families who have experienced an unexpected tragic loss. The Gardiner Memorial Basketball Classic Tournament has been held every summer for the past 13 years in the Bronx. This summer, the teams will include not only those from the Bronx and other local communities, but also teams from Mississippi and New Jersey.

On June 24th, Gersowitz, Libo & Korek PC hosted a breakfast supporting U.S. Representative Adriano Espaillat. The event was a huge success.
Mr.Espaillat proudly represents New York’s Thirteenth Congressional District. Espaillat is serving his second term in Congress where he serves as a member of the influential U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee, the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, and the House Small Business Committee. He is a member of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) and serves in a leadership role as CHC Whip. He is also chairman of the CHC Task Force for Transportation, Infrastructure and Housing and is a Senior Whip of the Democratic Caucus and Deputy Whip of the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC).
Congressman Espaillat is a staunch advocate of a fair living wage, victims rights and the rights of workers.

| | Julia Pepper is currently a rising senior at Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan. She plans on majoring in international relations in college and is part of Stuyvesant’s Model United Nations team, where she has debated pressing global issues at conferences in New York City, Baltimore, Boston, and Washington D.C. Julia is excited by all the new skills she is learning as a GLK intern so far! ..........................................................................................................................................................
Stephanie Zhang is a rising junior at Barnard College, located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. She is planning to attend law school and is enjoying the legal exposure she receives in her second summer interning at GLK. ..........................................................................................................................................................
Justine Uy is a rising third-year law student at Fordham University School of Law with an interest in litigation. Justine graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2017 with a B.A. in political science and Arabic. She started working at GLK as a legal intern in February 2019.

Jordan Abisror is currently a rising senior at the University of Maryland, focusing his coursework in Public Policy. He has an avid interest in law and society, and has been spending his days after work studying for the LSAT’s, as he plans to attend law school following graduation. Outside of the office, Jordan enjoys exercising by participating in recreational sports, such as golf and football, as well as an enthusiasm for film production, and various works of literature.

Grayson Meyerwitz is a rising sophomore at Temple University, currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in political science. He is an active member of both the Temple Political Science Society and Outdoors club. Before joining GLK this summer, Grayson spent the spring semester interning with the Defender Association of Philadelphia, where he aided in implementing the Cash-Free Bail initiative within the city correctional complex.
