Cyd Korek Recruited to GLK from Brooklyn DA's office |
| Cyd joined Gersowitz, Libo, and Korek P.C. as an Associate after serving the people of the State of New York for three years as an Assistant District Attorney at The Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office.
As a prosecutor, her caseload consisted of matters ranging from DWI’s to Drugs to Guns to Felony Assaults. Through her work, she gained insight into the neighborhoods and people of Brooklyn Heights, Carroll Gardens, Dumbo, Cobble Hill, Red Hook, Bedford Stuyvesant, East Flatbush, Dyker Heights, Bay Ridge and Fort Hamilton.
During her years as a prosecutor, Cyd was no stranger to the courtroom. She presented to the Grand Jury securing numerous indictments and worked daily with witnesses and law enforcement in presenting the People’s cases and often relied on forensic science in doing so. Post indictment, Cyd continued her courtroom work appearing at arraignments through evidentiary hearings, trials, and sentencing.

Justine Uy Becomes 3rd Fordham Law Grad to Join GLK

Justine B. Uy joined Gersowitz Libo & Korek as a law intern in her second year of law school, and became an associate awaiting admission to the New York State Bar Association. Justine graduated from Fordham University School of Law in 2020.
At Fordham, Justine was a member of the Brendan Moore Trial Advocates, an associate editor of the International Law Journal, and a graduate research assistant. From May through December of 2018, she was a judicial intern at the New York State Supreme Court in Queens County with the Sonia & Celina Sotomayor Judicial Internship Program.

How can one aptly memorialize a friend whom most knew only from his vaulted position as a judge?
Paul started his career as a Legal Aid attorney and then rose through the judicial ranks to become the history making first openly LGBTQ+ member of the New York State Court of Appeals.
In June 2017, it was the highlight of my tenure as President of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association to appear before the New York State Senate Judiciary committee to offer testimony in support of Paul’s nomination as an Associate Judge of our high Court...

| | $6,300,000 Birth Injury Settlement
|
| A 6.3 million dollar settlement was reached in a birth injury case in the Supreme Court, New York County by trial attorneys Jeff S. Korek, Cyd Korek and partner Michael A Fruhling. The lawsuit was brought on behalf of a child born with cerebral palsy as a result of a failure to timely perform a caesarian section on a new mother within the prescribed time by a relatively new obstetrician/gynecologist at a local hospital. GLK and attorneys Korek, Fruhling and Korek were able to prove that the newborn’s hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) resulted from a failure to properly address the ominous signs that were being recorded on the baby’s fetal monitoring strips. While the money recovered can never fully compensate the family and child for a lifetime of hardship GLK made sure to collect every penny of the physicians’ medical liability insurance policy before resolving the case

| $1,000,000 Car Accident Settlement in Westchester County |

Car Accident – Fatality. An elderly married couple in their 80’s were seat-belted passengers in a van struck by an SUV making a sudden left turn. The husband and wife were conscious at the scene and taken to the hospital where, notwithstanding undergoing excellent emergency care, both passed away from their devastating injuries. They are survived by their two dedicated daughters. The case settled following depositions of all of the parties for an amount in excess of $1,000,000.00 in the Supreme Court , Westchester County
