December 2023 Astrological Forecast
Hello!
This month we have a few planets creating changes in our lives. We have Mercury Retrograde for most of the month, an emotional full moon and a couple of planets turning direct. In numerology we see a shift happening as new energy comes in, preparing us for the year ahead. Overall I would advise taking some time to think about the future, set goals and make adjustments in your life to help you reach those goals.
We start with Mercury entering the sign of Capricorn on December 1st. When Mercury is in this earthy sign, we can expect to find ourselves thinking in more long term ways, devising plans and setting goals. This is good mental energy for getting practical and creating more structure. However Mercury will be going retrograde soon and it will spend a little more time in Sagittarius before settling into Capricorn again. So use the first 10 days to keep your eyes open to what might be headed your way once Mercury goes retrograde. More on the retrograde in a minute.
On December 6th, Neptune goes direct once more and many of us won’t even notice this one. Unless you have strong Pisces energy in your chart, Neptune’s retrograde and direct motion is usually more of a subtle energy going on behind the scenes. If you do happen to have strong Pisces energy, then you may feel a little bit of a shift with this. Typically it is a shift into a new spiritual perspective, one that allows us to integrate life’s lessons. Your dreams and psychic powers might be stronger during this time too.
We have a New Moon in Sagittarius at 20 degrees of Sagittarius on December 12th. With Sagittarius, the energy behind it is usually pretty adventurous and willing to think more optimistically. This is a great time for setting goals for yourself especially in the area of your chart ruled by Sagittarius. Need help with that? Also happening on December 12th, is Mercury going retrograde at 8 degrees of Capricorn. Whenever a planet goes retrograde it appears to be moving backwards in the sky from our vantage point on Earth. This time is known as the retrograde period and when Mercury, the planet of communication and transportation, goes retrograde, things can get a little annoying. This is not the time for starting anything important if you can help it and it’s not a good time to make big purchases either. I would advise against starting legal matters if you can avoid it. Travel during this time can be a real pain, so if you need to travel for the holidays, be sure to have backup plans and be prepared for delays, cancellations or last minute changes. Things tend to get lost, mixed up or confused during this time so it’s important to practice plenty of patience no matter what you do. It’s also a good idea to bring your car in for maintenance as Mercury also rules vehicles. Mercury will be traveling backwards through Capricorn and will enter Sagittarius once more on December 22nd. So if you know your chart, look for the areas ruled by Capricorn and Sagittarius to get an idea on where this one might affect you in your life. Mercury will go direct once more on January 1st.
The Sun enters Capricorn on December 21st and the energy shifts from Sagittarius’ wild, free spirited energy to Capricorn’s sober and responsible energy. While the Sun is here, it is wise to think about the future, to make our resolutions for the new year and to plan ahead for many years to come. Capricorn energy is grown up energy and this area of your chart is where you take on more responsibility and perhaps might even feel limited by. The universe says to us during this time, “focus on your duties and get your work done and you will be rewarded for your hard work.”
The opposite sign of Capricorn is Cancer and therefore we have a Full Moon in Cancer at 4 degrees on December 26th. This can be an emotional one so be sure to take care of your basic needs and get yourself grounded. Cancer is a cardinal sign, which initiates action and it is a water sign which means it initiates emotional action. I would advise staying at home for this one, especially since it’s the day after Christmas. In fact, we’re not even hosting a meditation for this one as both my husband, Brandon and I are also water signs. We’re gonna stay home and probably eat comfort food! It might be wise to do the same.
Also happening on December 26th is Chiron going direct and even though this is an outer influence, some of us might be feeling this one. This is a sensitive energy in the chart, one that touches on our deepest soul wounds. If you’re feeling vulnerable at this time, this and the Full Moon in Cancer is probably to blame. Be easy on yourself and give yourself plenty of room to feel the feels and let it all out. You’ll feel better.
Then Venus enters Sagittarius on December 29th and the energy lets up a little as Venus is more playful in Sagittarius, although she’s not all that interested in sticking to anything for long. You might find that your desires are a little more fickle while Venus is here, but it’s also a great time for enjoying yourself and exploring new ideas. This is an excellent time for visiting a museum or engaging in cultural events.
Finally at the end of the month, Jupiter goes direct on December 30th at 5 degrees of Taurus. With Jupiter turning direct once more, we can expect a little boost in our outlook on life. This is usually a positive and optimistic influence and depending on where Taurus is in your chart, you will experience the benefits of Jupiter differently. Numerology
December 2023 is a number 1 universal month and number 1 months often bring changes. Number 1 months are usually times where we feel a shifting in the collective as we become more aware of our basic needs. The number 1 is about new beginnings, exploration, courage, leadership and fresh starts. We can hope that this means that our leaders will step into a new and good place of authority and lead with integrity but given the history, it’s not an easy prospect to hope for. Instead, we might see new ideas emerging that are more in line with keeping the people ignorant and the leaders “in control”. The number 1 energy, while brave, can often be selfishly focused and in authority figures, this is usually not a fun thing for the masses. You can utilize the number 1 energy for yourself by seeing where you need to make a fresh start or where you need to be brave in your own life and taking action to support that. As we move into the year 2024, we will be shifting into a number 8 universal year and the number 8 is a very powerful number! It is the number that rules power after all, I am curious to see what our world leaders will be focused on as we move into that energy.
Let us pray for the best as we enter into even more turbulent times in 2024. Pluto (planet of death and rebirth) will be finishing up its final run through Capricorn (top down authority such as the government) throughout the year and it should be an interesting one! Just remember, sometimes we have to hit the bottom before we can see the top again. Hang in there, keep love in your heart and hope in your speech, and you will find your way.
