August 2022 Astrological Forecast

This month is a month of change. It’s not as if the world hasn't already been experiencing change, but the changes this month brings are likely to make a greater impact on the human collective. We’re talking paradigm shifts and spiritual awakenings. We’re talking greater outcries for freedom and for truth. We’re talking about realizations and revelations on a big scale. Hang on to your hats! I feel it won’t be long before many people will be questioning everything they thought they knew. 

We start the month off with a major conjunction between the planet of action, Mars and the planet of the rebel, Uranus. In addition, we’ve got the karmic energies of the North Node of the Moon joining them in the sign of Taurus. This energy can linger for a few days but it is exact on August 1st. There’s no doubt that the energy can be intense for many of us during this time so give yourself and others plenty of grace. On the world stage, we might see more signs of aggressive action or threats of war as the build up of these energies often seek an outlet through violence as a form of resolution. 

With the influence of Pluto (destruction before creative rebirth) being in the last few degrees of Capricorn (government, corporations, social structures) these past couple of years, we’ve seen the slow destruction of our old systems. This Mars/Uranus conjunction adds more fuel to that fire. And let’s not forget that Uranus is also the planet of shocks and surprises, so expect the unexpected! 

On August 3rd, Mercury enters Virgo. Mercury is the natural ruler of Virgo (although I am open to the idea that there is yet be an undiscovered planetary ruler of Virgo) and therefore is quite at home here. Mercury in Virgo has a penchant for calculated analysis and can perform beautifully when it comes to making informed decisions. This is an excellent time for critiquing, adapting and refining as Virgo excels at noticing what isn’t working and how things can be better. 

On August 11th, we have a Full Moon in Aquarius at 19 degrees. This is not the most comfortable place for the Moon to be, as Aquarius is awkward within the touchy feely realm of emotions which the Moon rules. Aquarius would rather be detached from the emotions, making decisions based on logic and reason. The Leo Sun argues for the opposite, wanting us to engage with life completely and to feel all the feels as this is what it means to be alive! This can sometimes create more tension for some as the nonsensical emotions are difficult to contain during the powerful influence of the Full Moon. And this one packs a punch as it’s also making aspects with the North Node, Saturn, Mars and Uranus! Also happening that day, Venus will enter Leo and hopefully this will soften things, but it’s possible that it could trigger some of you in your love life or in your finances as Venus rules both love and money! Those with strong fixed signs in their charts are most likely the ones who will feel this the most (Aquarius, Leo, Taurus and Scorpio). Mars enters Gemini on August 20th. When Mars is in this sign, it’s like we can’t know enough! Everything is interesting, there is so much to talk about and so much to learn. We often can’t get bogged down with too much though, we need to keep it light and flowing with Gemini as it’s difficult to focus on just one thing. This is an especially long time for Mars to be in Gemini as Mars will go retrograde in October. Use this time to be curious, to learn and to explore new thoughts and ideas. This can be good energy for getting ourselves out of ruts. 

The Sun enters Virgo on August 22nd. While the Sun is here, this is an excellent time to get to tweaking those things in our lives that need some adjusting. It’s a great time for making plans and preparations and for doing preventative maintenance. Just be careful not to get too caught up in the details as sometimes this can create analysis paralysis where it’s difficult to go beyond the analyzing phase and move into the action phase. 

On August 24th, Uranus goes retrograde and we will have six planets in retrograde by this time, including Chiron. With the outer planets, we usually feel the retrogrades on more of a collective or generational level unless the planet is personal to you or is hitting an important angle in your chart. For the most part, with all these retrograde planets, this is a time for reflection, for collecting information and considering and reconsidering that information. 

On August 25th, Mercury will enter Libra and the energy shifts to be more social, engaging our negotiating skills and helping us to harmonize with others. Mercury in Libra will bring a tendency to play fair and listen to all sides, making compromise the way of finding peace. This is also a very cerebral place for this planet to be, so we may find that our minds are preoccupied with thoughts about other people at this time. 

On August 27th, we have a New Moon in Virgo. Thankfully Virgo New Moons are pretty sedate and grounded. However, this one happens to be squaring off with Mars in Gemini who’s ready to shake some stuff up! The desire for perfection or improvement can be fueled by the impulsive and fiery energy of Mars, forcing us into action. Just take the time to check in with yourself and become clear about your intentions and you can use this energy to activate positive change and take action in your life! I think this is good energy to end the month with, don’t you?

In numerology, August is a number 5 universal month. Number five in numerology resonates with the following keywords: change, adaptability, rebellion, restlessness, variety, travel, information, personal expression and most of all, freedom. This month can bring new information that moves us towards finding and expressing our freedom as well as the need to adapt to our changing world, perhaps due to this new information. In your personal life, you can make the best of this by utilizing this energy towards things that help you experience your personal freedom more. Freedom can be found in many ways and you must show yourself where you are free first so that you can experience more of it. Many people believe they are not free because they do not have the financial freedom they believe they need in order to feel free. But I tell you, freedom is a feeling that requires no condition to feel. Your greatest freedom can be found in the realization that no one can tell you how you feel or how you can respond to things, only you can do that. That right there is a natural born right as a human, you have free will and that is your freedom. You are free to feel however you wish. So I encourage you to practice your freedom wherever you can find it and you will soon find more freedom. It worked for me and I now own my own business, experiencing more and more of my freedom!
