Home Works - A Cooking Book

During 2015–2017, the artistic program Home Works was active at Konsthall C. On the initiative of Jenny Richards and Jens Strandberg, artists, theorists and activists gathered to create activities in and for Hökarängen. The program was based on Konsthall C's location in the area's common central laundry and focused on issues related to domestic labour and the politics of the home.

The book is a theoretical resource for those who are interested in contemporary art, collective processes, labor policy and feminism. It also contains concrete manuals that can serve as a starting point for workshops, experiments and conversations about the common.

Jenny Richards and Jens Strandberg in the summer of 2018 "when we first embarked on making this book and realised what a journey and lot of work it was going to be :•) But of course it was a lot of fun and joy too! As Silvia Federici says, 'We need some joy in our lives in order to keep on fighting'."

Interview with Jenny & Jens

In connection to the Swedish premiere release of Home Works - A Cooking Book, we took the opportunity to interview the book's editors, as well as Konsthall C's former artistic directors, Jenny Richards and Jens Strandberg. In the interview, they talk about the work with the program Home Works, how the book has affected their experiences of the program and their feelings for Hökarängen.

Podcast on gender based violence

In Konsthall C's latest newsletter, we announced an upcoming release of our and Viktoria Löwenthal's podcast on gender-based violence. The podcast is now out! In the pod, Viktoria discusses violence, it’s aftermath and legal uncertainty together with Daniela, who is herself a survivor of violence in a close relationship. Viktoria says:

- Women who’ve been subjected to violence in a close relationship believe that in connection with reporting the crime, they should be able to see some kind of justice done. Instead, a humiliating and rather difficult process begins where abusive treatment, shame and enormous vulnerability become the victim's new everyday life. From ashes to fire - no maybe not - but from one hell to another, yes definitely!

The podcast is in Swedish.

Come and build with us!

On 8/5 our next exhibition opens. It is called All Makt Åt Fantasin and is about children, construction and the city as a playground. We want to build the exhibition together with you! If you like carpentry, painting or sewing, you can come to some of our construction days.

We are building April 22, 23, 29 and 30 between 12–17. We build at a safe distance and with protective equipment. Children can be in adult company. If you want to secure your place (we are never more than 8), you can email us at info@konsthallc.se or call 08-604 77 08.

If you are tired of sitting at home, or have a little extra energy in your clothes, come and build with us!
