Kid Chess Coach Spotlight

Hey folks,

It's time for the second installment of the Kid Chess Coach Spotlight Newsletter. Read the bios below and get to know some of our awesome new teammates!

This week, we're introducing Coaches Josh, Tommy, and TJ!

Coach Josh

Josh is a Kid Chess alum, having started with the program when he was in the first grade. Over the years, he has taken advantage of numerous summer camps, classes, tutoring sessions and tournaments. He continues to compete in tournaments and play online. Josh also holds a black belt in Tae-Kwon-Do and enjoys music and basketball. He is honored to be part of the Kid Chess coaching staff and aspires to instill in the students the same passion for chess that Kid Chess gave him.

Coach Tommy

Tommy Hoesley is originally from the midwest states but moved to Georgia to pursue a film career after graduating with a BFA in Theatre Arts. He learned chess as a kid at a chess club in his hometown and decided to pick it back up as a hobby during the 2020 lockdown. While Tommy isn't a career teacher, he comes from multiple generations of teachers and loves to find the fun in not only teaching but learning as well.

Coach TJ

T.J. majored in Modern Language and Culture at Kennesaw State University and enjoys all things that deal with philosophy, wellbeing, and aesthetics. Though he enjoys pursuing artistic paths, whether digital art, music composition, or script writing. His guilty pleasure is playing video games and watching movies with his buddies. When T.J. is not coaching chess he does academic coaching as well as Spanish and English.
