Dear Chess Players,


Elevate your game with Hightower Trail Middle School Foundation's Before-School Competitive Chess Program for beginners and advanced players! Join us every Wednesday morning from 8:05 a.m. - 8:50 a.m. in the 8th Grade Computer Lab, starting this August.


What to Expect:

  • Learn the Basics: Perfect for both new and returning students to brush up on the rules and fundamentals.

  • Enhance Your Strategy: Dive into tactics and strategies for all stages of the game.

  • Compete and Have Fun: Participate in exciting in-house tournaments, including everyone's favorite—bughouse!

  • Outside Tournaments: For those interested, support will be available for participation in official chess tournaments (Note: These are not school-sponsored).

This enrichment program will span 13 sessions throughout the fall, each packed with learning and fun. The course fee is $260 for the entire series.

Meet Your Instructor, Bella: Bella brings nearly three decades of chess experience, having started as a competitive player in Russia and achieved the title of Woman Chess Master's Candidate. With Master’s degrees in Math and Computer Science and notable victories, including university championships and participation in the winning team at two Pan-American Intercollegiate Championships, Bella is thrilled to share her passion and expertise with our students. Outside the chessboard, she enjoys photography, hiking, and knitwear design.
