Some awesome new folks have joined Kid Chess this semester, and we would like to introduce them!
| Kid Chess Coach Spotlight | Hey folks, Some awesome new teammates have joined the Kid Chess team since we've resumed in-person classes, but due to the virtual nature of how we run meetings, trainings, and events at the moment only a few of you have had the pleasure of meeting them. We'd like to rectify that over the course of the next few weeks by sending out a "Kid Chess Coach Spotlight" newsletter were they can introduce themselves and tell their story. We will be doing this for all coaches who have joined starting this fall semester, however, if you would like to be added to the newsletter we'd be happy to share your spotlight, even if you've been with the company since its very early days. Just let us know! | So to kick things off, i'd like to introduce myself, Coach Agif, and Coach Bett! | | | | Zac is a lifelong learner and chess player who frequently competed in tournaments throughout grade school reaching a peak USCF rating of 1842 in 2007. Zac loves many things including computer programming, playing music, long distance running, practicing mixology, and learning about new cultures. He first encountered Kid Chess in 2004 at age 14 at the old Borders’ Bookstore Kid Chess Club, and started volunteering at Kid Chess summer camps. At age 15, Zac starting working as a Kid Chess coach in school programs. Today, he works remotely for Kid Chess from his home in Brasil. Zac adores working with the Kid Chess team and attributes much of his character and successes in life to his decade plus career with the company. | | | | At the age of 16, Agif Mammadov became a candidate for a master of sports in chess. He was a member of the Azerbaijan youth chess team and is a repeated champion of republican and all-union chess competitions in the former USSR. For over 15 years, he worked as a chess coach at the Dynamo Sports club. His love of chess is expressed through his teaching and skillfully instills this love of chess to his students. | | | | Bett Potazek had been working with youth for over 36 years in arts-based learning, health education, and youth science discovery/environmental education. In Georgia, she has worked with the Center for Puppetry Arts, the Alliance Theatre, Autrey Mill and Chattahoochee Nature Centers. She loves helping children learn new skills and discover their capabilities. Bett's history with Kid Chess is not only as a coach, but as a proud parent of former Kid Chess members. |
