Subject: re: Celestron StarSense launched in Canada at Starfest!

Hello Friend,

Well, it was certainly an exciting time at the annual Starfest astronomy convention held in Mount Forest, Ontario.
this past weekend.

There is nothing more exciting than seeing a campground full of astronomical telescopes; anywhere in size from about 2 inches
to 36" in diameter.

Khan Scope was also very pleased to officially show and launch the New Celestron Starsense autoalign accessory,
the first one in Canada.

I had connected the device to my Celestron Nexstar 8 SE telescope, and was quite excited about testing it out under
the dark skies of River Place Park.

Well, alas Friday night turned out to be cloudy, so I had to wait until Saturday night to test the device.

Patience is something you learn in the hobby of astronomy....the more you want a clear sky to occur, the less likely it is to happen

.I turned the Nexstar 8 on, as soon as I could see a few stars in the sky, and entered the date and location on the Starsense hand control.

(The Starsense Autoalignment comes with it's own hand control which replaces your existing Celestron hand control).

The Starsense hand control is a higher resolution device and was easier to read, than my previous control, so that was definitely
a bonus!

The telescope then started slewing to the 1st of 3 stars that would be imaged and compared by the Starsense autoalign, and then went to a 2ndand 3rd star.

The whole process took about 3.5 minutes.

And that was it.

The display read "Alignment Successful", and so I went to the hand control database, and selected the Solar System
database, and entered the planet Saturn as the first "goto" object.....and VOILA the Nexstar 8 slewed to Saturn and
the object was in the field of view of the eyepiece!

SUCCESS!

The Starsense autoalign worked exactly as Celestron claimed it would and my friends and I were quite impressed.

Now of course, many of you have these on order at present, and the latest update I can give you is that final firmware issues
are being resolved with the product, and Celestron has indicated they expect to start shipping later this month.

And, if you have been on the fence as to whether or not to get one of these, then I suggest you get on board now,
because for sure, demand is going to exceed supply.
