I had the opportunity to chat with a long time Khan Scope customer  (over 25 years) this past week on the phone

Being curious as to how many scopes he had owned in that time he rattled off his list.

First, there was the typical basic poor quality 60mm refractor with the wobbly tripod that  many amateurs seem
to start with.

Next the ubiquitous 4.5 reflectors on some eq mount that was ok.  

Far better than the first one;  After a few years with that he then upgraded to an excellent telescope:

The Meade 8" LX10 SCT.   It was a basic, no frills telescope and I recall these were particularly well made
and quite reliable.  Just a regular motor drive system. 
 
Now it's interesting to note  that when a customer starts with one particular brand of telescope, they tend to stick with it for many
years after.

So, no surprise that his next telescope was a Meade computerized 10" LXD75 Schmidt-Newtonian.   Bigger aperture.

Aperture fever always strikes at some point.

As this gentleman got older, scopes started getting heavier, and so he went completely in the opposite direction, and he bought
a Meade ETX 90 in 2014.  

In 2017, Meade re-released the legendary Meade ETX 125 ,   he then promptly upgraded to this model to get a bit more
aperture and to maintain a high degree of portability.
 
So there you go;  our telescopes change as we change.
