As Sad as it may well be, I can always tell when Summer is coming to a rapid end, when the opening of the Canadian National
Exhibition in Toronto is announced each year.
Yes, then I know the last two weeks of the official July/August Summer is coming to a rapid end.
It's been a few Summers ago since I last went to the Exhibition grounds; but the last time I did, they had this outrageous
Burger, that was loaded between two Krispy Kreme donuts if you can believe it. It must have had at least 5000 Calories all told.
However, I just had to try it, and I did. Boy, it was an experience!
Dessert was the ever popular Ice Cream Waffle Sandwich. (you know, the vanilla ice cream slapped between 2 warm waffles....oh yum! :)
Anyway, this is what is just plain crazy
. This year, the CNE brass had this brilliant idea to hire some people to blog about their
"ex" (CNE) experiences during the course of the event, and one writer had the audacity to write a blog about "Eating and finding
Healthy food" at the Ex. Yes, Really!
Now lookit; who on earth goes to the Midway and Exhibition grounds for a healthy meal for gawd sakes? Everyone wants that fond
childhood memory, of Candy apples, Candy floss, French Fries and not to mention the Scrumptious "Tiny Tom" Donuts, made fresh right here in front of your eyes! And of course the Krispy Kreme Donut Burgers and Ice Cream waffle sandwich...(Burp!..excuse me...)
Sadly, the guy who used to cry out "Dawgie, Dawgie" win a Stuffied Dog, on the Midway has since long passed away...but I will always remember him fondly when I go to the Ex!
Ok, enough about this rant down memory lane, and back reality! Another thing that is coming to a rapid end in a just a couple of days
