Subject: We lose a great Canadian Astronomy Icon

Hello Friend

One of the  stalwarts of amateur astronomy and to whom I owe much for his wide

ranging influence in this hobby  is Terence Dickinson.

Sadly, Mr. Dickinson passed away yesterday.

You may have read his book, Nightwatch.  I would say it's the gold standard

for anyone that may have gotten in to this hobby.

Terence was also the Founding Publisher and editor of the SkyNews magazine

published here in Canada.

No one contributed more to this hobby than Terence Dickinson in this country.

He was to a great degree  responsible for putting this hobby on the map and growing

it across the country and internationally.

His last book, in its 4th revision, co-written with author Alan Dyer is one the best

technical tomes for the more advanced amateur astronomer.

Terence was also awarded the Order of Canada.  One of the highest capacities of

recognizition for their contribution that an individual can achieve in this country.

I hope you will take a brief moment and give a nod towards the skies for this

wonderful and humble, kind person.

Clear Skies,

Ray Khan
