Subject: The return of Meade Instruments

Hello Friend,

Meade Instruments has always taken the approach of utilizing
high technology advances in the manufacturing of their instruments.

Many years ago, they were the first company to come out
with the computerized "goto" telescope (The CAT system)
for the amateur telescope hobby marketplace.

And they have continued moving forward since then.

Meade was founded by John Diebel, on his kitchen table as he
likes to say, back in 1972.

Diebel had worked for Hughes aircraft for several years,
and decided to get into the "mail order business" of selling telescopes.

In fact, the company was originally called Mead. The "e" was added later.

Diebel , a cigar chomping , tall guy,was quite fond of relaxing at
Lake Mead, and hence the name.

John started by importing quality Japanese refractors from Japan
and things moved forward from that point on.

Diebel sold the company several years later to other investors
who took the company public.

Since then, it's been an up and down ride for the Company.

Recently, Meade Instruments was sold again, and is back in
private hands, and as a result we can expect to see some more
exciting innovations to take place from them in the near future, as
the new leadership team now in place, has some great ideas.

Do you own a Meade telescope? if so, I would be interested in hearing
your stories about your Meade telescope experiences.

Put "Meade" in the subject line.

Clear Skies,

Ray Khan
