Subject: The perfect telescope for you

  Hello Friend,

What's the perfect telescope to use?

It's a question I am often asked by many amateur astronomers.

Recently I have been quite excited, about the new generation of tablet and smartphone telescope control devices
for some of the new Celestron models of telescopes.

Amateur astronomer Kade Kimery,  sent me an email in regards to what's working for him, and I want to share it with you
because it really reflects a very important point that he makes in the last line of his email.

Here is Kade's email:

Ray,

I like the idea of having my I phone or I pad to control the movements of the telescope.

But one thing I like about astronomy is the hunt for objects. Everybody has different tastes and they like different things.
So I do not think I'm gonna switch the scope I got.

ps... I don't wanna sound like a downer. I think these scopes are pretty cool and i might switch to a computerized telescope some time or another. But I  kinda just got started in astronomy about a year ago. And I'm happy with what I got.

So in answer to what's the perfect telescope for you, it's actually the one you use.

Now, Kade's a relative newcomer to this hobby, and as his interests evolve he might eventually end up owning a
computerized scope. As he says, he likes the idea.

Good on him for hunting objects down manually, it gives you a certain appreciation of the night sky, that no amount
of "goto" technology can.

Is the telescope you presently own working for you? Or have you outgrown it? Maybe it's just too heavy, and you've
aged a few years.  So many different factors to consider.

The way to know if you have the "perfect telescope" is to determine how much you are actually using it.

Are you excited when you hear this a clear night arriving?Or do you feel the dreaded sense of obligation to lug out
your instrument, without great enthusiasm?

Only you can know the answer to this.

Something to reflect about as we approach Spring observing.

Clear Skies,

Ray "telescope possessed" Khan
