Hello Friend,

Happy Canada Day!

We are truly blessed to live in a nation that from East to West and the North and South, has so many natural
wonders.

Along with that, we also have in this country, some of the most brilliant people, who work in the 
aerospace and engineering industries.

Just think back to the Avro Arrow.

Moving forward, the Canadaarm, has been instrumental in space exploration.

And currently there are many great Canadian contributions to both NASA and European Space agency
programs.

Canada is a recognized leader in many of these areas as having the skill and expertise in developing
technologies that will advance astronomy and science.

As for amateur telescopes, much of the software used on the Celestron Nexstar telescopes series
was developed here in Canada.

And, many years ago, Robert Bredberg designed and built newtonian reflectors in Richmond Hill
just north of Toronto, for amateur astronomers.

However, there is also a very serious concern today.

I was talking to Bob McDonald of CBC Quirks and Quarks radio show a few days ago, and he had mentioned ,and I
agree that we there is a tremendous amount of pseudoscience that people are tending to believe in these days,
and sadly that seems to be growing.

So that's something we certainly need to combat, and one of the ways we do that as amateur astronomers
is by sharing our hobby with other members of the public, and sharing the wonders of the night sky at
every opportunity.
