Hello Friend,

     A business colleague of mine recently mentioned that he thought the dumbest show ever on
television was none other than Gilligan's Island.

     He went as far as to say that even when the Harlem Globetrotters showed up, the Professor
still couldn't manage to get them off the island!

The professor was played by the late actor Russell Johnson, who in actual life he was really
quite the fellow, it appears.

     He flew 44 combat missions in the Pacific Theater during World War II as a bombardier in B-25 twin-engine medium bombers.

Due to heavy enemy attack, the bomber he was flying in, had to ditch in the sea.

    The radioman next to him died, and he survived with two broken ankles.

He received the Purple Cross for his injuries during wartime.

    That's probably enough to want to make Gilligan want to stay on the island, so he could be with Ginger,
(or Maryanne) till death do us part.

Now we've got our own "Professor" here at the store, and his name happens to be Mike Petch.

    Mike is quite knowledgeable on many different subjects, astronomy in particular.
