                   Product launches can be an absolutely crazy time.

And the recent new product launch of Celestron's new line of telescopes, the NexStar Evolution is no exception.

     Let me tell you a story from years ago.

My Dad was in the electronics business many years ago, when televisions were sold in these huge wooden
cabinets and looked like a piece of furniture.

And I used to go into the service department on the weekends,
and hang around the technicians, and learn about electronics, which was quite fascinating to me at the time.

Plus I could earn some extra money by doing odd jobs

  My father was attending a trade show. and invited me to come along to see what it was all about.
I was about 15 years old at the time,and this product launch for a new television from a company called
Phillips, was for the launch of the Modular 4 tv.

In a nutshell, the television was assembled by technicians, live on stage, and consisted of 4 modular parts,
which meant it would be easy for a technician to service the television, by simply exchanging one of
the four modules.

Clever idea!  And it worked.

I mean, no one liked the idea of having their television chassis removed and taken to the shop 
and missed the next episode of Hawaii Five 0 with Jack Lord.

Or heaven forbid, Archie Bunker.  Or Chico and the Man.

If you can remember those shows, you likely have a few gray hairs :)

And that's kind of how the idea for the Nexstar Evolution was born.   It's no different really.

The engineers and tech guys come up with the features that amateur astronomers really want
and then things move forward at a fairly rapid pace, once all heads at the table agree.

For example, I personally have wanted a 9.25" Optical tube on a fork arm based system, that
was much lighter in weight than other instruments in a similar category.

The  9.25 optical tube, has razor sharp images. A legendary design.  And if I want to dabble in
some imaging, I can do that as well.  

The Nexstar EVOLUTION series, will start shipping in June.
