Subject: The Inconvenient Indian, and it's not Tonto, Kemosabe.

Hello Friend,

Ever heard of the book "The Inconvenient Indian?"

It was brilliant and was a Canadian Bestseller when released in 2013.

This weekend I was in Guelph, Ontario attending an opening reception for an art gallery.
I happened to bump into the author, Dr Thomas King who wrote the book mentioned above.

The book documents the history of how the First Nations have  been screwed over by the first
settlers (European) and ad on infinitum.

And still are in many respects  today.

In a  Dr.conversation at the gallery Dr King, I mentioned that he might consider the next book to be titled: "The Inconvenient Prime-Minister".

AKA Justin, you know who.

Let's say he was slightly bemused and understands politicians will say anything to get elected and
make promises they have no intention of keeping.

My home on Manitoulin (roughly 50% of the island is First Nations reserves) has made me quite aware of the
effects of how our first nations peoples have been treated.

One reserve on the island is rampant with drug issues, addiction, crime etc.  These are self-governed by their own
police forces, not the OPP.  On a recent visit, I was astounded of the ratio of police to residents.
It' also happens to be an unceded territory . No treaty was signed with Canada.

Some  forward-thinking reserves  realize the way to get ahead is to pull yourself up by your own
bootstraps and get on with life, and stop relying on government promises and handout deals which keep
you stuck in the same place, generation after generation.

So your best personal interest is to take action and not wait for others to "save" you.

Got it Kemosabe?

And today you'll want to take affirmative action and consider some of the super deals I've lined up
for you on our Daily Deals page.

Clear Skies,

PS Did you know that the original actor who played Tonto (actor Jay Silverheels)  on the original Lone Ranger TV series was born
in Brantford, Ontario? The Lone Ranger played by actor Clayton Moore always appeared to be the
smarter of the two, because half the time Tonto appeared to screw things up.  So you know what the inference was.
