Subject: Nikon stepping up it's game for amateur astronomers
Hello Friend,
Every since I bought my first Nikon FE 35mm camera body, years ago as an amateur astronomer from
the now defunct Jerry's camera on Yonge Street, Toronto, I have always appreciated the quality
of Nikon Products.
I wanted to use the body for some piggyback astrophotography on top of my Celestron 8.
And it worked like a charm.
I drooled about owning the ED 180mm f2.8 lens back then, which I eventually got, a few years later.
It was the cat's meow for taking widefield piggyback pictures, and it was also a bit out of my budget
at the time.
Then came the Nikon high eyepoint "F" body, designed for eyeglass wearers like myself.
A solid workhorse of a camera. Used by professional photographers everywhere back in the day.
And I am very happy to say that the Nikon tradition continues on today, in my family, with
my daughter Danielle DaSilva, who is founder of Photographers without borders .

Danielle uses Nikon gear exclusively, because it's the best in the field.
And Danielle, is also a resident photographer at Hermann and Audrey Studios:

Right now, she is getting ready to hop on a plane to Jamaica, to shoot a location wedding.
Nice!
And recently, I had the pleasure of checking out some Nikon Binocular optics designed
specifically for Astronomical use.
The Nikon Astroluxe 18 x 70. http://www.khanscope.com/productdetails.cfm?productID=5435
This is by far, one of the best astronomical binoculars I've looked through.
Yes, it comes with a hefty price tag, and it's not for everybody. but the Optical performance
is second to none.
Now, with all the rain in the forecast, I don't imagine I'll be seeing much of the night sky in
the next few days, and I am sure the blackflies are getting ready to get into action in the near future.
Clear Skies,
Ray "Nikon nut" Khan
