Hope you are enjoying your Summer so far....

Last night, the Moon was almost full, and the skies were clear! There were even a couple of Loons out on the Lake
here in Northern Ontario.

I  wanted to mention a couple of  upcoming Star Parties that you  mind find of interest that will be happening this
Summer. Now, as you well know, Summer goes and comes far too quickly!

 If you have never been to a Star Party, then you don't know all the fun you are missing out on. Consider registering
for one, and even perhaps make a family holiday out of it. Most have camping facilities, or motels and hotels located nearby.
Heck, the one in Manitoulin Isand, even has a teepee you can sleep in!  
It's  a great way to share your passion for astronomy with others, and even make a new friend or two, or just chill out
doing your own thing.

This is a list of  a few of my favorite Star Parties in Ontario. Their are many others across Canada and the USA, which
you can find listed in most of the popular astronomy magazines or online.

1) Manitoulin Star Party;  Gordon's Park, August 5th to 8th Manitoulin Island,  
    The Island is an actual RASC designated Dark Sky Preserve, and as a result you will
    get some of the darkest skies to observe in Northern Ontario here.

2) Starfest:  August 25th to 28th This is Canada's biggest Star Party and recognized as one of the worlds largest. Held in  Mt Forest, Ontario.

3) Huronia Star Party (HSP)  August 31 to Sept 4th.   If you like laid back, and informal then the HSP might be the star party for you,
    under the dark skies of the Collingwood area.
