Hello  Friend,

Well honestly I don't know where the past year went, but it seems that it went by pretty quickly!

I keep track of the year by paying attention to when the next  STARFEST star party is.....and it seems
that it is just around the corner...........(August 8th to 11th 2013).

It's being held in Mount Forest, Ontario, which is about 2 hours Northwest of Toronto, at the River
Place Campground. (Lots of camp

Now, if you have never attended a star party (and there are several of them all across Canada and the US)
  then perhaps this is the year you might want to go.

If you are perhaps concerned that you don't know anyone there, or are not sure of what to expect, you can be
sure of one thing: Amateur astronomers are the friendliest bunch of folks you will find anywhere, and there
is a good chance you have a new friend or two before you leave the event!

Plus, there is a lineup of some very interesting speakers/presentations over the course of the weekend,
so you will have plenty to keep you entertained, and heck you might even learn a thing or two.....

Khan Scope Centre will be there with a commercial display, and we will be bringing up some of the latest
and greatest in astronomical telescopes & accessories.  

As a matter of fact, if you are attending STARFEST, and you would like something delivered to you at the
event, just give us a call at the store, 1 800 580 7160 or local 416 783 4140 and we will be more than
happy to bring it along and deliver it to you (Friday or Saturday) at the event.

Now, for those of you completely new or wondering about Star Party etiquette: (this ain't from Miss Manners either!)
Malcolm Park, one of the event organizers offers these valuable tips:

Please remember to use red lights at night and no white light flashlights. Here are some of the things that you can do to comply. Please plan on not using your car after dark. Turn both your interior and exterior lighting system off if you think you will need to enter your car. If you must open or move your car, make sure your lights are covered with red film, which we provide along with painting tape at the registration desk. If you expect to move your car after dark, you can park at the day visitors parking lot.

If you need a red flashlight, all the vendors have them and you can buy them at Starfest.

Oh, and here is one more valuable tip from me:  Please don't be blaring Led Zeppelin, "Comes from the Ice of the Land and snow"
or similar ilk late at night, or for that matter during the day.  Some folks might be sleeping and won't appreciate it!
