Subject: It just get's better

Hello Friend,

I received an email from Claude Boivin, President of the Club d'astronomie les Bore.

If you want to find out how to get more female membership into your local astronomy club,
well he seems to be the expert to ask.

Now the numbers would not be as interesting if say, they had a total of 6 members in the club
and 3 were women.

In fact, the club has 55 members, and 26 female members.

Here is his email:

 Ray,

I read all of your emails that I find quite interesting

Just to tell you that our club in SAINT FELICIEN Québec up north has a membership of around 45% of women.

This is quite surprising and as been like this for many years now.

Maybe the fact that we have a mobile planetarium helps us because we have many public shows during the year and this seems to interest alot of woman and many stay in the club after...

Thanks for you daily emails on astronomy

Ps. Here is our link to our web site:  http://clublesborealides.com/

Merci et Bonne journée

So obviously public outreach is a main component here for attracting members to the club.

Good stuff!

Clear Skies,

Ray Khan

PS If you don't have a club in your local area, well then you could always start one.  All you have to do is
find a few more likeminded people and that's how it begins.
