Hello Friend,

Mars to India, over and out......

After journeying 10 months, India's Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) has now arrived at the planet
Mars and is successfully orbiting it.

Think about it though. This was a high risk mission!

Why, you ask?

The single engine burn that was to take place, while MOM was flying behind the red planet
was out of telemetry contact with earth for a period of time.

If the engines fired incorrectly, game over! KABOOM, either burned up in the martian atmosphere or
hurled out in the nether regions of space.

Talk about how nerve wracking that would be, if you were a mission scientist/engineer!

Now this is a remarkable feat on the part of  Indian scientists, considering it was their first attempt at
this kind of mission.

Not to mention, that there were many women scientist's and engineers involved with this project
as well.

Again, moving the country forward, Friend.

Of course,  you are going to hear a lot of flak from those that will once again rant, that it's money
being squandered, and what all all the abject poverty, already in India...yada, yada, yada.

Really?

And here is where the Indian government got it right this time.

With  science,  there are more visions and possibilities for youngsters in that country to look forward
to the possibility of moving forward in their lives.

And if anything, that will lift the country out of abject poverty, in many regions,
given time.

PS MOM carries 5 instruments on board, that will study the surface, atmosphere, methane in the Martian atmosphere.
      These tests will be the keys in discovery of microbial life, if any exist.
