I practiced magic tricks when I was a youngster.

Was inspired by a magician I saw on TV, when I was about 8 years old.

Wrote him a letter, and he encouraged me to keep practicing.

Not only that, he would send me letters and postcards from his world travels
around the globe.  From cruiseships, to a performance at London Palladium
for her Majesty, the Queen.

So of course, I became interested in escape artist, and magician, Harry Houdini.

Houdini was an exposer of charlatans and frauds, who claimed to be in contact with the dead.

In fact, Sir Arthur Conan Doyles wife  (Sherlock Holmes), was a spiritualist.

He and Houdini were good friends, up until Houdini exposed the antics of his wife,
and thus ended the friendship.

Houdini made a deathbed  statement to his wife  Bess,  and gave her a secret password.

He said that if anyone could come back from the dead, it it was at all possible, he could
and would send her this secret password via a medium.

It never happened, despite countless mediums trying.

Houdini happened to die on halloween.  Just a coincidence of course.
