Hello Friend,

As we roll into the Victoria Day Holiday weekend, it looks like we might get some good weather here in
Southern and Northern Ontario.

 The possibility of observing the partial Solar Eclipse on Sunday May 20th.
 Looks good too.

The safest and most inexpensive way to do that is to use a pair of Solar glasses especially|
designed for safely observing the Sun, without doing any damage to your eyes.

Please do not observe the Solar Eclipse without any eye safety protection!

If you happen to have a white light solar filter for your astronomical telescopes,
that will work too.

One of the experiences I have had with this hobby is that, sometimes when you plan
an observing session, the weather does not neccessarily co-operate, so the best way
to get around this, is to plan an impromptu observing session when the weather
looks good on any particular day.

This is what we did recently, and got together with a few Khan Scope customers
and had a look through this amazing TMB 8 inch apo telescope!
We saw the skies were going to be clear for the evening, and invited a few friends
and customers who happened to stop by to join us.

The views we saw of the Planets were simply amazing that night!  Saturn with a clear view of the
Cassini division was breathtaking. Actually, being able to see the Polar Caps on Mars and other
surface detail was very inspiring.  And all this from the light polluted skies of Toronto!

Remember, Planets are not affected by light pollution, as they are visible via reflected Sunlight,
so you can get some awesome views of them. 

Many people are under the impression that Planets
are best viewed from cottage country, but it's just not true. Give it a try and you will see what I mean!.

There is a lot to be said for using an Apochromatic refractor, as our impromptu observing session
proved. You simply can't beat the contrast and details that are visible. One of the reasons I never
tire of looking through them. It's always a delight!

There are many different models and sizes available as well, and if you like more information

So, use the good weather as an inspiration to getting your telescope out this May long weekend,
if you have the opportunity.
