Hello Friend
With the Easter holidays coming, I got to thinking about what one of my favourite beginner telescopes was. Turns out it is designed by a Canadian, Glen Speers who is one of those folks that just quietly works in the background and does amazing work.
No fanfare or accolades. Glen prefers it that way, being the somewhat anti-social guy that he is. He get's my utmost respect. Considering that no assembly is required and you can pull this out of the box, tripod and all and it's ready to use, well that took some serious doing.
We recently had a customer, let's call him Mike, who had an embarrassing moment with his Antares 511AZ Newtonian Reflector telescope (link: https://khanscope.com/products/antares-511az-newtonian-reflector-on-az-el-mount-511az?variant=39412958199921).
Mike had just received his brand new telescope, and he was eager to try it out. He set up his telescope in his backyard, but he forgot one crucial step - he forgot to remove the main cover!
As he peered through the telescope, he was puzzled as to why everything looked blurry and out of focus. It wasn't until he looked at the telescope from a different angle that he realized his mistake. Mike couldn't believe that he had forgotten to take off the main cover, and had removed only the cover intended for a small solar filter but he took it in stride and had a good laugh about it.
We're happy to report that Mike is now the proud owner of a fully functioning Antares 511AZ Newtonian Reflector telescope. But his experience got us thinking - how many of us have had similar moments where we've overlooked something obvious? It's a reminder to slow down and take our time, especially when it comes to something as delicate and intricate as a telescope.
I personally use the Antares 511AZ telescope (link: https://khanscope.com/products/antares-511az-newtonian-reflector-on-az-el-mount-511az?variant=39412958199921) as a "grab and go" telescope in my garage. It's perfect for quick views of the night sky right from the driveway when coming home from work .
I also want to recommend a few useful accessories that you might want to consider purchasing along with your Antares 511AZ telescope. First, check out the book "110 Things to See with a Telescope - The World's Most Famous Stargazing List" (link: https://khanscope.com/products/110-things-to-see-with-a-telescope-the-worlds-most-famous-stargazing-list). It's a great resource for beginner and experienced stargazers alike, and it will help you discover some of the most breathtaking objects in the night sky.
Another accessory that I highly recommend is the 2x Barlow lens (link: https://khanscope.com/products/2x-barlow-lens-1-25-sm-bar2x125?variant=10552434689). This lens will effectively double the magnification of your telescope, allowing you to get even closer views of celestial objects.
So, if you're considering purchasing an Antares 511AZ Newtonian Reflector telescope, don't forget to check out these great accessories as well.
Makes a great gift for Easter for kids, adults or anyone who has even a mild interest in the night sky or stargazing.
Thanks for reading, and happy stargazing!
Clear Skies,
Ray Khan
