This email is a response to newsletter reader Frank D. Who sent an email to me yesterday
About wanting buying used gear on our 50% promotion.
He noted in his email that he had “no intentions to buy anything (other than food and gas)” but dropped by the store because he was curious to see what was on offer.
We currently have a promotion in our retail store to clear out many of our used inventory items at 50% off savings. That’s a big savings on telescopes and mounts.
If you have been to our store recently you know it’s jam packed and we have a serious reason
For wanting to move this inventory.
We have NEW Spring stock arriving and not only is our retail storage full but our external
Warehouse is as well.
It’s really that simple.
Recently a customer came in and purchased a Used Nexstar 5 SE at a whopping 50% savings
Off the Used price. After the purchase, the instrument was demonstrated to him as being in working condition and fully operational. He was satisfied with this purchase or at least we thought so.
An hour later he called the store and wanted to know if he could return the telescope and get a different one instead.
The answer was NO of course.
Why? First he got a super deal and it was a Final Sale.
Boy was he upset and threatened to leave a nasty review because he “was not getting things his way”
Well boo boo mister.
the telescopes and mounts for this promotion and mounts are being sold “as is”.
That does not mean they don’t work, but truth is that we are actually losing money
On these items at a genuine 50% off, so we can’t afford to spend extra time on explaining
How everything works and spend an hour teaching you how to use it.
If you want us to do that, then you can simply pay for an instructional class and we will
Spend an hour with you going over your purchase and answering all your questions.
Reader F. Dempsey wanted to test and play around with the mount prior to considering
Purchasing it and was told that was not possible.
What if the mount gets damaged; we can’t presume to know customers know what they are doing.
It’s a matter of knowing when to be a tire kicker and when not to be.
And at 50% off, if you don’t recognize a gift horse in the mouth well that’s unfortunate.
