When Tom Johnson and co-founder Alan Hale founded Celestron Pacific
International Over 60 years ago, little did they know that it would grow
into the huge success it has become today.

Several years ago, I remember sitting in the office of then Predisdent of
Celestron, Alan Hale in
Torrance,
California while we chatted about the industry.

(Note: this is not the same Alan Hale that was on the TV sitcoms
“Gilligans island” just in case you might be wondering, little buddy).

He pulled out his University paper outlining the notion and idea that the
Schmidt-cassegrain design of telescope could revolutionize the amateur
telescope industry.

Boy, was he right about that !

Alan is a fascinating man and his love of optics was quite apparent in that
conversation.

Here we are 60 years later, and to celebrate Celestron has just released
This exciting new telescope.
