Subject: Busted by New York's Finest tactical squad in Times Square

Hello Friend,

If you are thinking of having a star party in Times Square, NYC ......don't.

That was attempted this past week by some of the folks from OPT from the West Coast.

(I'll send a link to the live video I recorded soon so that you can see the hijinks personally).

Just as a polar alignment was being attempted (I kid you not) the NYC  cops rolled along and
said, "pack it up."

You don't argue with the tactical squad.

Unfortunately, that is the climate today in the world we live in.

As you might imagine the light pollution was horrendous.

So the scopes were pointed at neon light bulbs.

The whole idea was to edumacate people to the joys of amateur astronomy and light pollution.

Some fascinating questions were being asked by passersby.

Here is the thing: with a CCD imager, or a Mallincam video system you actually can take images
or observe from light polluted backyards in the city.

One of the best devices to be able to do this yourself is right here:

I'm not joking; you can observe and image the Andromeda Galaxy for M51 with spiral arms with any sized telescope
from a 75mm refractor to whatever.

Yup!

Just don't go to Times Square to do it.

Clear Skies,

Ray Khan
