Subject: Best telescope for a feminist?
Hello Friend,
I'll tell you about that that in a moment.
First, let me tell you a story. I was in the UK visiting my daughter Chantal recently who works as a journalist/writer
at a major newspaper in London. She's a darn good one too.
We were out to dinner at a nice restaurant, and after dinner, I got up put my coat on, and reached for hers to
help her do the same, and I was stopped dead in my tracks:
"Dad, I am quite capable of putting my coat on myself thanks" she quipped.
Now, of course, don't get me wrong about feminism: I am all for equal rights, equal pay for equal work and all that
but why is it that good manners have to get chucked out the window in the process?
I said ok.
However, I did not think there was anything wrong with the gesture. Call me old fashioned; I am still going
to offer to assist a lady (or man if necessary) to put their coat on.
It is what I was taught, and it's simply good manners. (Young men out there, heads up).
Nothing to do with feminism at all in my books.
Now back to that best telescope for a feminist: (male or female that is: how's that for equality?)
